Hi guys, Slinky here – I’ve found myself at Rain after retiring from my racing career and now I’m super excited to meet my new family!

My carers say I’m a lovely, gentle boy and have the best ears! I’m a typical greyhound and love to be close to you, my number one spot here at Rain is curled up on a comfy bed in the office while my human friends are working. Since I love being with people sooo much I would prefer not to be left for long periods in my new home, especially while I’m first settling in.

I do have a playful side though and enjoy a good zoomie session with my toys – anything that squeaks is sure to be a hit! I like a good sniff and potter on my walks too but don’t need to walk miles and miles to be satisfied – the best bit about going out walking is always the snooze I get to have after all that exploring. I’ve made a few doggy friends since I’ve been here and am happy walking with other greyhounds, although I can feel a little bit overwhelmed in large groups. I could maybe live with another polite dog after a controlled meet here at the centre, but due to my racing past I’m not suitable to live with cats or small furries. I’ll also need a secure garden so I have a safe area to run and play off-lead!

Like most racing greyhounds, I’ve come straight from kennels and have never lived in a normal home before – because of this I’ll need some extra support settling in as normal everyday things like climbing stairs or household appliances are all new to me. My friends at Rain are more than happy to give any potential adopters lots of advice and resources on how to help me feel at home though!
