DARLA
Gender: Female
Age: 7 - 8 years
Neutered: Yes
Darla is a very sweet, shy German Shepherd cross who is around 7-8 yrs old. She is medium in size and smaller than a full GSD (she weighs 27kg) and is very gentle. Darla needs a patient, quiet home where she will be allowed to build up her confidence in her own time. She bonds with people quite quickly and loves to have a fuss and cuddle when she trusts you. She shies away from people she doesn’t know and shows absolutely no aggression at all, but at first meet she will not interact with new people very much which seems to be putting potential adopters off her. Darla is very quiet and no trouble at all – she is fully housetrained, doesn’t chew and will be fine to be left for a few hours. She has shown no issues around other dogs and could live with another calm dog. She is nervous out walking on a lead, she walks fine on the lead around our kennels with people she knows, but away from her comfort zone scares her and she’ll be too frightened to walk far, so she’ll need gradually building up to longer walks in her new home once she is familiar in her new area and trusts her new owners. She is frightened of quick traffic whizzing past, so needs to be walked in quiet areas until she’s braver. She would love a home with a secure garden so she can enjoy some outdoor time while her confidence grows. Darla is a total sweetheart who really deserves to find her happy ever after after a really bad start to life. We hope we can find someone who will look past the scared and shy dog they will meet at the kennels, and look forward to bringing out the happy, loving and playful girl we know she really is given some time and patience.
