Alfie is a 2 year old SharPei crossbreed with heaps of personality and energy! Are you looking for a best friend to join you on your adventures? Even better, are you looking for a super smart and driven dog to participate in activities like canicross or scent work? Do you have experience training dogs with challenging behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques? If so you could be the perfect home our Alfie has been waiting for! This boy has so much potential but needs more than just a loving home and a daily walk to bring out the best in him. Alfie is super sharp and picks up everything we try with him super quickly making him the perfect companion for dog sports – he has tried out scentwork and canicross during his time at rain and been brilliant at both however we are confident he could turn his paw to most new skills! The downside to this is Alfie is clever enough to make his own fun and pick up bad habits – because of this we will be looking for an owner who can be enthusiastic and consistent with continuing his positive training! In particular, Alfie struggles with handling and restraint so is being slowly desensitized to this. Due to a rocky start in life Alfie can also be very frustrated so is learning to develop some impulse control, however he will also need an adult only home with lots of walks and activities to keep him occupied and manage his frustration. We would love for his new owners to be happy to take the advice of a behaviourist on working with these issues and helping him to settle in. It is essential that Alfie’s new household is as calm and quiet as possible with no children or other pets as he is learning to relax and enjoy his downtime. Alfie has tonnes of personality and is so much fun to be around however he has a sensitive side and will need patient and understanding owners. While Alfie is not for the faint of heart, for the right home he really will be the perfect soulmate to share your life with. Alfie has been fully health checked, flead, wormed, vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He will be rehomed with a free bag of Burns dry dog food which he has been enjoying in our care and will leave with 4 weeks Pet Plan insurance. All our dogs and cats will be neutered (if safe to do so), vaccinated, flead, wormed and microchipped which will be registered to you on adoption.
All pets come with 4 weeks free Petplan insurance, 2kg Bag of Burns food.
All dogs and cats have been assessed by the Rain Rescue team who will work with you so we ensure we get the right match for you and for me.
